What is the VCI Program?

Vendor Course Instruction is the use of extracurricular activities to supplement and enrich core curriculum content. A Vendor Course Instructor (VCI) is an individual or a company that contracts with Gorman Learning Center (GLC) to provide services such as tutoring, science labs, and performing arts classes. The school pays for these services out of a special budget. There is a dollar amount designated for each student that participates in the program that may be put towards VCI expenditures every year.

VCI Policy at a Glance

• Can be in a group format or one-on-one tutoring sessions
• Classes must be provided by an approved VCI
• Focus should be on tutoring services or special workshops to broaden basic knowledgeand skills in core curriculum content areas
• Student must be completing necessary core curriculum before expanding upon elective courses
• Budget does not carry over from previous semester or year
• Services are not available on school holidays or summer break
